Sinus Lifting
The air spaces in the skull, which have functions such as reducing our head weight and making sounds properly, are called sinuses. One of the sinuses, called the maxillary sinus, is located in the areas adjacent to our molars and premolars. Generally, when the maxillary posterior region teeth are lost, the bone in the place of the extracted tooth will melt and the distance between the sinus wall and the bone apex will be shortened and there will not be enough bone to be implanted in this area. The surgical elevation of the sinus floor in order to increase the amount of reduced bone is called sinus lifting. There are two types of sinus lift techniques, open and closed. These techniques vary according to the existing bone heights.
